Bottleneck is about the uncertainty that comes along as one person in a relationship moves to a place far away from their significant other. I wrote the lyrics when my girlfriend was planning to move across the country two years ago. We had been in this relationship about three years back then and we were uncertain where things were headed and whether we'll make it or whether our relationship will fall apart.

She asked me what I thought and I answered something along the lines of "we're going to be alright", without fully believing my words. The line gets repeated in the song as a way of trying to convince myself to believe in it, wanting desperately to believe. Her moving across the country was our Bottleneck – all had been contained until that point but we didn't know what awaited us afterwards.

It's scary to think how well the lyrics apply to the band break-up two years later. The first rehearsal was seven years ago when Boss mastered Sugar, We're Going Down on Rocksmith and Dude convinced him to join the band. We later settled on the name Hydrocyanide. What followed were seven years of songs, gigs, hardships, and most of all friendship.

But in the end we set our sails and moved on with our lives. The times are altering indeed.
